Proverbs 2

After reading Chapter 2, here is what stood out to me...

1. Right away in Verse 1 the author tells us to store everything up, all the wisdom we prayed for-store it up in your heart.

2. Verses 5-8 taken from The New Living Translation-
"Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him."

I love how it says that God will be our shield, but only if we walk with integrity. Have you ever had to tell someone something that you knew would hurt them, but it was for the best? That's integrity. When you speak truth into other people's lives when you have nothing to gain from it. It is so hard, but it's comforting to know God is with you.

3. Verses 9-11- I love what the footnotes say in the NIV about these verses..."Those who know the Lord and the wisdom he gives will know what course of action to follow." You know that little feeling, that urging feeling sometimes, or that cautious feeling you get. You may ignore it, or you may tune into it. I believe that is God, the Holy Spirit giving you wisdom in certain situations, and when you are in tune to God's wisdom, and listen to his words, you are better off for it. Remember, he protects the faithful.

4. Overall I think chapter 2 was just another encouragement to seek out God's wisdom. Don't think he will just give you wisdom, you are not that lucky, you need to seek it out, run after it, fight for it, do whatever it takes to just get a glimpse of his wonderful knowledge and wisdom.

What do you think?
See you tomorrow!

My favorite part is that discretion will protect us and understanding guards us (vs 11). I desperately want discretion and understanding.

My favorite part today is verse 3: Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.

That is exactly what I did and it is so amazing what my life has been like since I did that!! It truly was like I was given a whole new heart and soul when I simply asked the Lord to help me understand. Amazing!!

I love knowing that God is guarding us. The Message calls him a bodyguard. :)

I told one of my friends something that she may not necessarily wanted to hear but it was the truth. She didn't take my advice and now she has found that the road she took is not the right one. But as her friend, I'm still there supporting her.

I like those little nudgings. I do believe that is God. God comes to us in situatons that are tempting and tries to pull us out of them. We can either choose to listen to him and back away or go forward where we might get hurt.
